Short description

The AI Act establishes a risk-based regulatory framework: it prohibits certain AI practices, while high-risk systems must meet requirements relating, among other things, to documentation, traceability, appropriate data processing and human oversight. Educational and VET institutions must exercise particular care when using systems that influence admission, assessment and learners’ progress.

Institutional AI-use policies, information for learners and teachers, the development of critical digital competences, and documented oversight all contribute to responsible implementation. In addition to legal requirements, the educational purpose and the protection of learners’ rights must be considered when using these systems.

Estimated learning time: 25–30 minutes.
