The main steps of building a large language model: filtering web text, tokenisation, training and creating a chat assistant.
From processing text to a chat assistant.

Learning objective

Chatbots such as ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini answer in fluent, confident language – even when they are wrong. Through concrete examples, you will learn what large language models are, how they generate text, why they produce inaccurate or invented answers, and how to validate their outputs.

By the end of this learning content, you will be able to

  • define a large language model and a token;
  • explain the principle of next-token prediction;
  • recognise typical forms and warning signs of hallucination;
  • use practical strategies and tools to validate AI outputs before classroom use.
